Mr Premarajan Ponnambath

Mr. Prem is a distinguished professional with over 35 years of experience in industrial automation and machine building. With a strong academic foundation in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, including a master’s degree in computer science, he has made significant contributions to Singapore’s industrial automation and engineering sectors over several decades. Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Prem has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to technical education and talent development in Singapore. He has served as an Adjunct Lecturer at SIM Global Education since 2005, sharing his extensive industry knowledge and practical experience with aspiring professionals. Mr. Prem has been actively involved with WorldSkills Singapore (WSS) since 1998 and has served as the Chairman and Chief Judge of the Mechatronics Technical Working Group since 2006. His contributions to technical excellence and skills development extend to his service as a jury member for the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Technology Award from 2016 to 2019. He has also contributed to engineering education in Singapore through his involvement in academic advisory committees at Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), helping to strengthen the alignment between academic programmes and evolving industry needs. As a business leader, Mr. Prem has been instrumental in driving innovation and technological advancement at Pixel Automation Pte Ltd. Under his leadership, the company received the Best Innovation Award and the Emerging Enterprise Award in 2017. He is also an inventor of patented technologies, including SMART Move and Pixcell, which support Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing applications. In addition to his professional and educational contributions, Mr. Prem is actively involved in community service and grassroots leadership. He currently serves as the Chairman of Woodgrove Neighbourhood Committee (NC), demonstrating his commitment to community engagement and development. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to skills development and lifelong learning, Mr. Prem was conferred the prestigious SkillsFuture Fellowship Award by the President of Singapore in 2022. His decades of dedication to technical education, workforce development, and the advancement of vocational skills were further recognised when he received the WorldSkills Singapore Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023. Through his leadership in industry, dedication to education, commitment to innovation, and active community involvement, Mr. Prem continues to make meaningful contributions to Singapore’s engineering landscape and the development of future generations of technical professionals.
