Johan de Villiers
Managing Director

Johan de Villiers took over his current role of Managing Director for ABB in Singapore and South-East Asia in 2015.

After an education in electrical and electronic engineering, Johan gained practical experience in engineering, commissioning and project management. He joined ABB in 1997 in South Africa, where he successfully led various teams in areas such as industrial process automation and manufacturing automation.

In 2007, he became Country Manager for ABB in Qatar, where he helped start a new country organization and then grow business substantially. Moving to Abu Dhabi in 2011, Johan was appointed regional manager of the Power Systems division in the Arabian Gulf Countries, before transitioning into a regional role leading the Power Grids division in South-East Asia.

Senthil Ramani

Senthil Ramani (Sen) is Accenture’s digital and consulting business lead for in the Asia Pacific, Africa and Middle east geographies. Sen is a strategist and practitioner known for his pragmatic approach to leveraging digital technologies. Sen advises top clients on developing digital strategy, positioning, research, market development and delivery. He has been involved in over 50 transformation projects across multiple industries spanning Oil & Gas, Utilities, Renewables, Metals and Mining and consumer segments.

Sen is the author of the white paper Manning the Mission for Advanced Manufacturing, focused on the transformational impact of Industry 4.0 and its adoption as well as skills needed for the Advanced Manufacturing sector. Sen also serves as the managing director of Accenture’s Internet of Things Center of Excellence in Singapore.

Sen holds a Master’s degree in operations research and supply chain from Arizona State University, and has six Accenture patents.

Dr. Hazel Khoo
Deputy Executive Director
Science and Engineering Research Council

Hazel Khoo is the Deputy Executive Director at the Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) of the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR). Her portfolios include overseeing the following SERC Research entities in the sectors of Chemicals, Materials & Energy, Electronics, Infocomm and Engineering as well as strategic and resource planning for SERC including infrastructure and laboratory and cleanroom management, and overseeing the competitive funding framework under the domain of advanced manufacturing and engineering.

Prior to her appointment at SERC, she was the Director of the A*STAR Joint Council Office from 2008 to 2013 where her portfolio included promoting interdisciplinary research at the interface of biomedical sciences and the physical science and engineering, and overseeing the agency’s international relations and partnerships.

Hazel joined A*STAR in 2001 as one of the pioneers of the Biomedical Medical Research Council (BMRC) and was involved in a wide range of BMRC’s core programmes. Prior to this, she spent several years working in the food industry in research, process development, and industrialisation.

Hazel graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with an Honours degree in Microbiology and then went on to pursue her Ph.D. with NUS in Biochemistry.

David Chia
Managing Director

David has his first degree in Electrical Engineering, majoring in Power and Control, and went on to do his MBA. He started his career as an automation engineer and has stayed on in this industry the past 17 years. He covered numerous functions from technical support to project engineering, product management, business development, sales and now general management.

He is passionate about his work in automation, and perpetually curious on how new technologies can be adopted to make automation better.

Simon Song
Managing Director

Simon Song has been the managing director of Bosch in Malaysia since November 2014 and holds overall responsibility of driving the Bosch business in the country, simultaneously leading Bosch’s digital solutions in ASEAN since February 2018. Mr. Song has amassed over twelve years of international management and leadership experience at Bosch in China, Germany, and Singapore.

In Shanghai, Mr. Song began his career with Bosch in 2005 as the director of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities in Asia Pacific. He was then appointed finance and controlling director for Bosch Rexroth Linear Motion division in Germany before relocating to Singapore to assume his role as vice president and regional chief financial officer for Bosch in Southeast Asia. He played a vital role in defining the company’s regional business strategy, ensuring Bosch’s strong growth in the region. Mr. Song graduated with an MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Jonas Berge
Senior Director

Jonas Berge is educated in Sweden and is a Senior Director at Emerson Automation Solutions in Singapore. He is responsible for helping plants and EPCs to adopt new technologies moving the industry forward with digital transformation. He has over thirty years of experience in the field of instrumentation and controls. Mr. Berge is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the field of Digital Transformation (DX) including fieldbus, wireless, and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Mr. Berge is a senior member of ISA, participating in the ISA104 and ISA108 standards committees and sits on the Steering Committee of the FieldComm Group in Asia Pacific.

Mr. Berge is the author of the books “Fieldbuses for process control: Engineering, Operation, and Maintenance” and “Software for Automation: Architecture, Integration, and Security” and has contributed to several other books and is frequently featured in articles. Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Mueller-Wittig
Director

Wolfgang Müller-Wittig heads Fraunhofer Singapore, the 08th subsidiary of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and its very first in Asia. He is the Executive Director of the Fraunhofer Centre for Interactive Digital Media at Nanyang Technological University Singapore. Further to this, he holds a position as Adjunct Professor at the NTU School of Computer Science and Engineering. Prior to moving to Singapore in 2001, he worked as head of the “Visualisation Group” at Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research in Germany (Fraunhofer IGD).

He is a successful researcher in the field of Computer Graphics for more than 25 years demonstrated by more than 100 research papers published in international journals and conferences. He is responsible for the development of various industry-related applications using new visualisation, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality technologies. “Virtual Factory” was one of his first projects in cooperation with Apple and SIMTech when he came over to Singapore in 2001.

Dr. Ho Chaw Sing
Managing Director

Dr Ho Chaw Sing, Managing Director of NAMIC (National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster), heads the Singapore government funded initiative to catalyse innovation and scale industrial adoption of additive manufacturing (also known as 3D printing) technologies. By focusing on industrial applications and translational R&D, together with commercial strategies to co-create innovative products and services, the national initiative aims to position Singapore as one of the leading digital manufacturing hubs in the era of digitalization and smart factories. Since its inception two years ago, NAMIC has raised more than $24 million in public-private funding to support various AM initiatives across industry verticals.

Before joining the public sector, Dr Ho spent 16 years in the private sector. His experience in the technology sectors across a range of functional disciplines has given him breadth of perspective and expertise in the areas of start-ups and eco-system, global markets, technology innovation, large-scale operations, business transformation, and customer experience. Prior to starting NAMIC, he led IP Innovation Strategic Partnerships at HP Singapore. Before that, he was the global head of manufacturing supply chain operations and product innovation for the consumer inkjet supplies business in HP. Dr Ho started his career in the semiconductor industry with Chartered Semiconductor and Globalfoundries, where he undertook various leadership and customer-facing roles in technology development and engineering operations.

Dr Ho holds a doctorate in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Bachelor’s (honours) degree in Electrical Engineering majoring in Microelectronics from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He is an avid inventor with 47 US/international patents and 16 peer-reviewed publications. An advocate for 3D Printing and its role in the new economy, he has spoken on this topic in several forums and workshops. He mentors a number of technology start-ups in the digital and healthcare sector.

He sits on a number of advisory and expert committees and is an appointed mentor under the GE Digital ASEAN Startup and Partner Program. He is a certified coach in the Youth Career Network under NTUC. He is personally interested in nurturing deep tech start-ups, as well as advancing STEM education and engineering as a profession. In his free time, he enjoys sports, movies, reading and spending time with his family.

Matthias Gunkel

Matthias Gunkel has more than 25 years of experience in the Automation Business in Asia Pacific. After 4 years in the US in the early 80’ties he started as an export sales engineer in the German Factory Automation Industry.

In 1994 he has established the first joint venture of Pepperl+Fuchs in China and subsequently managed the Pepperl+Fuchs Asia Pacific sales organization from Singapore. With his extensive experience in starting up and developing sales networks in the major Asian markets he sits on Pepperl+Fuchs Factory Automation Division board of directors and advises on group strategy for the company.

Since the beginning of 2016 he is member of the board of Pepperl+Fuchs Asia, responsible for the Factory Automation Division in Asia. He is married with two children, resides in Singapore.

David Orgaz D’Hollander

David holds a Master of Science degree in Electrotechnical Engineering, a Masters Degree in Automation, and an MBA from INSEAD.

After spending 11 years with Siemens in a variety of roles including engineering, project management, sales and business development, David joined Schneider Electric in 2007.

After holding a number of roles in China & Singapore, David was appointed Senior Vice President of the Automation Line of Business in 2012.

In 2014, David relocated back to Singapore to lead the newly created Process Automation organization for Asia Pacific, which is the combined Automation business of Schneider Electric (Discrete and Hybrid Industries) and recently acquired Invensys (Processing Industries). Fong Pin Fen

Fong Pin Fen is the Director of Cities, Infrastructure & Industrial Solutions Group in the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). She oversees the promotion and development of new business and investment opportunities in Engineering Services, Controls and Automation and Building Solutions sectors in Singapore.

Saw Ken Wye

Steven Koh
Executive Director

Mr. Koh is the Executive Director of Singapore Precision Engineering and Technology Association, Prior to his retirement in March 2015, he was Deputy CEO and Executive Director of Armstrong Industrial Corporation Limited. A position he held since year 2000 respectively.

Mr. Koh holds various Diplomas in Banking, Accountancy and Management from renowned overseas and local institutions.

Mr. Koh has wide experience of over 25 years in the Banking Industry. Prior to joining Armstrong Industrial Corporation Limited, Mr. Koh has held several management positions in major banks. He was General Manager of a local bank’s Seoul branch. He is now the Executive Director of Singapore Precision Engineering and Technology Association, a position he held since Dec 2015.

Mr. Koh Joined Armstrong Industrial Corporation Limited as General Manager – Group Corporate Services in 1998 and was appointed to the Board in 2000. He played a key role in turnaround and grew Armstrong Group from S$46 million turnover to S$225 million, market value from S$17 million to S$250 million. He was appointed as Deputy Chief Executive Officer in 2005, and various directorship in the Armstrong Group in the Group subsidiaries and associated companies.

Mr. Koh has been instrumental in providing critical directions in key functions including Corporate strategy, finance and operations. Thereafter, in guiding the Armstrong Group in its regional expansion and attaining sustainable profitability. Armstrong had grew from 8 factories to 18 factories spread across 6 countries.

In March 2015, Mr. Koh has retired Armstrong Group but remain as its advisor till Dec 2015 to ensure smooth transition to his successor.

In Nov 2015, SPRING Singapore has appointed him as their Business Advisor to provide strategic management advice to the CEOs of the Precision Engineering Companies in Singapore from November 2015 to November 2016. He is also the Group Advisor, Advisor and Independent Director of many local large corporation and SMEs. He sits in many Trade Associations and Government Agencies organized committees.

He was also appointed as Independent Director of Metal Component Engineering Ltd, a SGX listed Company since May 2016.

He established the Singaporean Club in South Korea and appointed as Secretary and Chairman thereafter during his work assignment in Seoul from 1991 to 1995.

From 1st September 2010 to 31st August 2014. He was appointed by the Commissioner of Inland Revenues as member of the Taxpayer Feedback Panel – Mandarin Dialogue for 4 years.

He was the Vice Chairman of Singapore Precision Engineering and Technology Association (SPETA) from 2011 to 2015, subsequently appointed as its Advisor from June 2015 to November 2016 as part of his community service. SPETA membership has since grew by 50%.

Dr. Andreas Hauser

Dr Hauser holds Engineering Degrees in Shipbuilding and Computer Engineering, and a PhD in Applied Mathematics. He started his career as Research Scientist at Corporate Research of Siemens in Germany and headed thereafter the Siemens central research unit in Singapore. He then joined the technical service provider TÜV SÜD in Singapore to build up new innovative businesses.

As Director he is now leading the Centre of Excellence Digital Service in Singapore, a key unit in TÜV SÜD´s digitilisation strategy, and is driving the development of new solutions around safety, cyber security and reliability of smart systems in the strategic segments Autonomous Driving, Industrie 4.0 and Smart Healthcare.

Koen Leekens

Koen Leekens has 24 years of global Industrial Automation, Control and Safety experience under his belt. As the Executive Vice President of Yokogawa Engineering Asia Pte. Ltd. headquartered in Singapore, he currently oversees the strategic marketing and sales direction of the group’s Industrial Automation & Control business in ASEAN, Oceania and emerging markets.

Previously, Koen held a number of key positions with US and German MNC’s providing operational excellence and safety lifecycle solutions in the Oil and Gas, Refining, (Petro-) Chemical, Power and Water industries.

Koen is passionate about driving continuous value creation in the era of digitalization thus excited about living in the Smart Nation – Singapore – right in the Asia Pacific center for Industrial transformation and digitalization for the past 12 years.

A native of Belgium, Koen holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Hasselt in Belgium. Since 2004, he is a Certified Functional Safety Expert registered with the CFSE Governance Board.
